If you're not running anti-spyware software, you absolutely positively should be - and Spyware Terminator won't cost you a penny. That said, there's an active user forum, plus a robust online support guide that will lead you to a support e-mail address if it can't solve your problem. It's an added layer of spyware protection, but for some reason it's not enabled by default.īecause this is freeware, don't expect much in the way of support. ![]() When you're done, you should also consider enabling ST's Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS), which creates a database of existing programs on your PC and notifies you of any non-database programs that try to run. I recommend skipping the optional browser toolbar that's offered during installation but allowing the third-party anti-virus software ( ClamWin, a popular open-source utility). Spyware Terminator does just what you'd expect: scan your system for everything from cookies to shady processes, instate 'real-time' malware protection, quarantine items, and, ya know, upsell you. I've spent some time fiddling with Spyware Terminator, and for the most part it's easy to use and quite comprehensive. ![]() ("Come with me if you want your computer to live." Sorry, just had to channel Ah-nold for a minute.) A relatively new entrant to the latter category is Spyware Terminator, which offers spyware scanning and removal, real-time protection, and even optional anti-virus integration. Have a great 2009 and howdy to all the forum members.Running a Windows PC without spyware protection is like hanging from a cliff by your pinky: sooner or later, AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! There are plenty of anti-spyware utilities out there, both commercial and freeware. I got a lump in my throat and a ball in my stomach, we need them and they will be truly and sorely missed. Thanks for being here, too bad about CastleCops' demise. Anyway, like they say in AA.take what you need and dump the rest. I aint no expert by any means, just an average joe trying to beat the hades outta some spyware and meanness that some brilliant but mal-intentioned kids and other robbers-of-happiness-and-need-to-get-a-life folks throw at us when they invent these viruses and nasty creepy-crawlies. I like SuperAntiSpyware, never had any problems with Spyware Terminator, but I get a creepy feeling when dealing with Crawler and their EuLA is very troublesome to me as well. I was reading in the forum here in the comparisons between the different anti-spyware someone was being accused of trashing "Spyware Terminator" cuz he worked at SuperAntiSpyware. I did the same with Advanced System Care. I bought and upgraded on Spyware Doctor because I was impressed with the product. I think that customer goodwill means something that you cannot put a price tag on. If you want us to fix it, put out the cash now. I dl'ed it in desperation, and all it did for me was to tell me, "Yes, mr computer beginner YOU CERTAINLY have about:blank screwing your life up. I remember being very young, a starving student plagued with that darned about:blank creepycrawlie and search as I might, all the google and search engines kept coming up with the wonderful, "ABOUT:BLANK BUDDY" as the miracle cure. ![]() I have bought full versions of course, like Spyware Doctor, but only when their free or trial versions have great present time problem resolution and I see that it is indeed something worth having in my toolchest to battle the maleficarum softwareasites. Why for example, when I tried to install software on two occasions using the exact same protocol and instructions it failed miserably, but on the the third desperate attempt, succeeded? Why, I dunno. We are working very hard to create a great free product that can be comparable to any paid antispyware software title on the market. Spyware Terminator was created as an apology for our previous business pracitices. I chalk it up to the great cyber unknowns of the time continuum. Everyone currently working on Spyware Terminator has never been afiliated with malware companies, including the old Crawler. They have all, at one time or another picked up or detected something the other one has not. I like PC Health Optimizer free edition because it is loaded with utilities AND their Anti-spyware component is damned thorough and fast.
